Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Houghton was a member of Glendale Road Church of Christ and by trade was a paper hanger and painter. He also retired from Lowes paint department.
His parents were John and Mary Ruoff Houghton.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Starks Houghton; one daughter, Vicki Dial of Almo; two sons, Bob Houghton of Madison, Ala., and Steve Houghton of Benton; three sisters, Marge Doyle of Delaware, Mary Lowe and Theresa Fryer, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Jack Houghton of Puerto Rico and Jimmy Houghton of Pennsylvania; and 11 grandchildren.
