DRAFFENVILLE – Volley for the Cure, an event to raise funds for victims of pediatric cancer, is scheduled next week in conjunction with the Marshall County-Ballard Memorial volleyball match.
The event will begin a 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the MCHS Auxiliary Gym.
Proceeds will be donated to the “Love for Little Heroes” fund in Marshall County. All funds will benefit local families.
In addition to the varsity match between the Lady Marshals and Lady Bombers, scheduled to begin at approximately 7 p.m., freshman and junior varsity contests will be held beginning at 5:30.
Between the JV and varsity matches, members of the Marshals football team will play the Lady Marshal varsity in an exhibition.
T-shirts will be on sale from 11 a.m until 1 p..m. Monday and Tuesday of next week at the high school for $12 apiece.
During the Volley for the Cure event, concessions will be available and a bake sale will also be held, with proceeds going toward the charity beneficiary.
Admission is $5. Spectators will be eligible for prize giveaways.
They will also have the opportunity to have bone marrow swabs if they are interested in becoming donors.
Any victims of pediatric cancer ages 18 and under who attend will be honored at mid-court and will receive a T-shirt.
Patients who have been recently diagnosed or whose illness is in remission are invited to attend.
Business sponsors are being sought, with a $20 donation asked.
