Two people were injured in a two-car rollover collision last Thursday morning at the intersection of Toy York and Dowdy Cemetery roads when the driver of one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign.

Marshall County Sheriff Lieutenant Brett Edwards was dispatched to the intersection of Toy York Road and Dowdy Cemetery Road at around 7:30 a.m. after the vehicles collided, causing one to flip multiple times trapping a passenger inside.

Edwards said it appeared Terry L. Britton, 25, of Benton, and his passenger Tamara L. Britton, 52, of Benton, were traveling eastbound on Dowdy Cemetery Road when Terry ran the stop sign.

“He was traveling at a pretty good speed when he clipped the second truck and rolled his truck,” he said.

The second truck was driven by Justin A. Harrison, 25, of Benton, who was traveling through the intersection southbound on Toy York Road. According to Edwards, Harrison is a paramedic with the Marshall County Ambulance Service and had just gotten off of his shift.

The Marshall County Ambulance Service transportedTerry Britton to the Marshall County Hospital Emergency Room and Tamara Britton was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
