A structure fire at 862 Tatumsville Highway in Gilbertsville caused some alarm Thursday afternoon after three county fire departments rushed to the scene.

Firemen from the Gilbertsville, Palma-Briansburg and East Marshall fire departments put out the flames that were caused when the property's owner attempted to drain a gas generator near the building. It is suspected that nearby electrical outlets were exposed to the discarded gasoline.

The road was closed while the fire department put out the flames, but officials have said the situation has been handled.

There were no injuries and the owner's home was not damaged.
