Every time you attempt to compile a comprehensive listing of things, there’s the danger of overlooking something or somebody.

You hear award recipients say things such as, “I couldn’t possibly list everyone who has helped me accomplish this. I’m afraid I would forget to mention someone.”

The Trib’s list of athleic scholarship winners in our 2012 year in review coverage neglected to mention Marshall County football player Levi Sanders, who is playing on scholarshp at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.

The thing is, Levi is kind of hard to overlook. Not only is he a mobile and agile (and, at the appropriate times, hostile) player, he’s pretty big and imposing. At 6-1 and 260 pounds, he’s slightly larger than his high school playing weight.

Apologies to Levi and to anyone else we may have neglected to mention.

Please let us know of any other oversights, and we will make amends.

n Coming up next week is the fourth annual Gunner’s Magic Train basketball tournament at Marshall County High School.

The event is in honor and memory of Gunner Gillespie, son of MCHS boys basketball coach Gus Gillespie and his wife, Janna, who died in 2008 of cancer. He was 8 years old.

“It’s an awareness raiser and a fundraiser in the fight against pediatric cancer,” WCBL’s Jeff Waters said.

WCBL, Lake Chem Federal Credit Union and Ponderosa restaurant are sponsors of this year’s event, slated for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, at Reed Conder Gymnasium.

Look for a complete preview of this event in next week’s Trib.

n Congratulations to Taylor Meadows, who has scored 1,010 career points as a Lady Marshal basketball player.

WCBL Radio’s Jeremy Rose, voice of the Lady Marshals, said Taylor reached the 1,000-point mark with her last free throw in Friday night’s game against Calloway County. She had 24 points in that game.

She added 10 more Saturday night at Community Christian.
