Roberta Centers, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 1, at her home in Gilbertsville.

A native of Dawson Springs, she was a 1940 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and attended San Diego (Calif.) City College. She was a professional knitting instructor and co-owner of a Stretch & Sew store in San Diego before returning to Paducah in 2005.

She is survived by a daughter, Terry Strick of Benton; a son, Tweed Howard Centers of Carlsbad, Calif.; sister-in-law Shirley Vinson of Paducah; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson “Jack” Centers, a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; son Rex Parker Centers; brother Jewell Lee Vinson; and her parents, Elmer Jewell Vinson and Agnes Marie Wininger Vinson.

A graveside service will be held at Fort Rosecrans Military Cemetery, San Diego, Calif., on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., with Pastor David Plank officiating.

Visitation will be held at Collier Funeral Home in Benton Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
