Robert E. Hicks Sr., 79, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Hicks was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He worked at Tappan Manufac-turing Co. and as an auto diesel mechanic.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Hicks was a native of Calloway County. His parents were Robert Leland and Mattie Evelyn Trout Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Leath of Murray; daughters Deborah Benham of Union City, Tenn., and Cheryl Hicks, Melissa Petik and Rebecca Key, all of Murray; sons Michael Hicks of Newton, Kan., Robert E. Hicks Jr. of Murray and David Hicks of Fulton; a sister, Betty Meadows Mohundro of Murray; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.
