He was born in Paducah and graduated from Reidland High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
He was founder and owner of Skinner School and Office Supply in Memphis.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Wooley Skinner; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Skinner Mahon of Eads, Tenn.; grandson Jeremy David Mahon; great-grandson Silas David Mahon; and sister Betty Lee Massey of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Skinner; his parents, Melvin B. and Betty Barker Skinner; and one brother.
A memorial service was Thursday, Dec. 27, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Larry Davidson and Rev. Leland Hayden officiating. A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
