He was a Core Driller for the Florence and Hutchins Engineering Co., in Paducah. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Army, He was a member of the Benton VFW Post and the Benton American Legion.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lisa McCoy of Benton, Michelle Goslin of Wilmington, Del., and Jennifer Miller of Benton; two step-daughters, Sheryl Gosa and Sharon Dawson both of Genoa, Ark.; and thirteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orbin W. Mitchell and Mary Ialee (James) Mitchell; his wife, Sandra Kay (Henderson) Mitchell; one brother, Arnold W. Mitchell; two sisters, Gwen James and Lola Holliman.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 2, in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Bennie Chandler officiated.
Interment with military honors followed in the Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton.
