A number of new businesses have announced plans to open soon within the Benton city limits.
Creative Custom Woodworking and A Change of Scenery Consignment Store will open later this month at 605 Poplar Street.
Husband and wife David and Vickie Smith will work under the same roof at the custom woodworking and consignment furniture and home decor store.

The shops will be open Monday and Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. They will be closed on Tuesday and Sunday.
Bad Bob’s Bar-b-que will open near the end of the month at 300 N. Main. The restaurant had previously had a Benton location in the same building until its 2005 closing.
Owner Reggie Young said the restaurant will offer dine-in and carryout service, a drive-thru and catering.
In addition to barbecue, Young said the menu will include daily plate lunch specials.
Bad Bob’s has locations in Murray and in Paris, Union City, Dyersburg and Newbern, Tennessee.
Vapor Emporium, a retail outlet for electronic vaporizers and liquid nicotine products, will open at 801 Main St., next door to ReMax Realty in the near future.
Owner Angie Jackson of Mayfield said the shop will offer an alternative to tobacco products.
Employee Jamie York said electronic vaporizers include far fewer chemicals than cigarettes and emit no secondhand smoke.
Jackson said she is currently remodeling the store and waiting on the arrival of inventory before an opening date is determined.
State Farm Agent Michael Venable has opened an office at 805 Main St.
Venable, who also has an office in Hopkinsville, offers a complete line of insurance products including auto, home and life. He has been with State Farm since 2000.
That Cute Little Shop on Benton’s Court Square will be moving into Antiques Etc. on Sept. 1.
Owned by Tracy McDonald, That Cute Little Shop carries women’s clothing and gift items.
Those holding gift cards for store are advised to use them prior to Aug. 30.
The Video Vault opened last weekend at 315 West 5th St., next door to the Benton Waffle House.
The business offers new release and DVD video rentals. They promote having access to newly released movies 28 days in advance of Redbox.
Danny and Mike Green are erecting a building along Main Street next door to Harvest Time. The Green brothers are the owners of Green’s Towing.
A family member said they currently do not have firm plans for a use for the building, which is nearing the final stages of completion.
