MARSHALL COUNTY, KY - A Benton woman was arrested Sunday on DUI 2nd offense and four counts of wanton endangerment after she crashed her mini-van off Moors Camp Highway with her four children, all under the age of 10, in the vehicle.
Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the 4000 block of Moors Camp Highway Sunday evening at around 7:30. Upon arrival, officers found Haley Schroader’s minivan off the side of the road in a wooded area. Police say Schroader failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway.
Officers noticed the odor of alcohol on Schroader, and she admitted to drinking prior to the accident.
Schroader’s children, ages six to nine, were also in the vehicle. Schroader’s husband, Blake Schroader, fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
Schroader and the four children were taken to Marshall County Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The children were released to family members.
Schroader was released from the hospital and arrested and taken to Marshall County Detention Center.
Police say they have not located Blake Schroader, but charges are pending.
