Hundreds gathered at Veterans Honor Plaza at Mike Miller Park yesterday to honor the men and women who have served in the country’s armed forces. Top-left, American Legion Post 236 Honor Guard members salute a single helmet resting on a rifle, which represents fallen comrades. Center-left, Brenda Sirls and her grandson Chandler Sirls, who serves in the National Guard, prepare to place a wreath honoring fallen soldiers. Bottom-left, guest speaker Gary Nolte, Jr., of Hopkinsville, discusses some of the lessons he learned while in Afghanistan.
