DRAFFENVILLE – Ground was broken last week for a new McDonald’s. The restaurant will be located between U.S. Bank and Lake Chem on US Hwy. 68 near the intersection of 641.

According to franchisee James Butler construction will be complete in 87 days from the start of ground breaking. He said that puts the opening at June 20 and customers can plan on having breakfast with him on that morning.

Butler is new to the restaurant business. He said we was looking for a spot for his first McDonald’s and the Draffenville location was recommended by the corporation after a site survey and market research.

Jason Sams, principal owner of Jason Design Group told the Tribune-Courier in November his company was conducting a survey for potential locations for the fast food chain.

Originally form North Carolina, Butler is relocating to Marshall County from Carmel, In. He said he chose the Kentucky site over others because of the ease of doing business here, the quality of life and the outdoor opportunities.

The Draffenville McDonald’s will make the third in Marshall County. The others are in Calvert City and Benton.
