The following is a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office:

"On October 30th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office received information that someone had overheard others talking about a group of Marshall County students that were going to shoot dogs. In response to this information Sheriff Kevin Byars directed the school resource officer and other deputies to investigate. Officers interviewed the students in question and have been unable to corroborate any such plan. Those interviewed were unable to give any direct information other than unsubstantiated rumor. However, as always Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies will be patrolling this Halloween and through the weekend and will be on watch for any such activity and the investigation will be continuing."

The Tribune Courier is working to substantiate where the rumor started and is working to provide additional information as it is available.
