MURRAY – Marshall County’s Marshals and Lady Marshals are the top seeds for the Fourth District basektball tournament next week at Murray High School.
They will match up with No.4-seeded teams from Community Christian Academy of Paducah in a double-header in the first session of the tourney on Monday. The girls will play at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at approximately 7:30.
Admission is $5 per person for each session of the five-night event. Chair seats in MHS’s Tiger Gym will be available to all spectators on a first-come, first-served basis except for sessions when Murray’s Tigers or Lady Tigers are playing. For those games, chair-seat ticket holders will have first-rights access to their seats, but will have to pay the $5 admission charge.
Individuals holding state officials’ cards, KHSCA coaches’ cards (good for admission of two) and KHSAA administrator cards will be honored, according to Murray High assistant principal and athletic director David Fields. All other spectators will be required to purchase a ticket.
Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each session.
Doors will be locked and no one will be able to use the front entrance of the school, located at 501 Doran Rd. in southwestern Murray, until 5 p.m.
Remaining sessions will be single-game affairs, all starting at 6 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday will feature single games between Murray and Calloway County. The girls will play on Tuesday and the boys on Wednesday.
Winners from Monday and Tuesday night’s girls first-round games will meet in the championship on Thursday night .Winners from the two boys’ first-round games will play for the championship on Friday.
The champion and runner-up team in both boys’ and girls’ competition will advance to the First Region tournament the following week at Murray State University.
