Benton – On July 30 the Marshall County Public Library hosted the fourth annual End of Summer Mega Event for the library. It was open to all students in grades seven through twelve. The night featured games, martial arts demonstrations from Karate Elite, a scavenger hunt, a cardboard tube war, and nearly thirty different door prizes.
“This is always a fun program for both the teens and the library,” said Tammy Blackwell, Young Adult Services Coordinator. “I love seeing everyone getting really excited and involved, although my favorite part of the evening is when we start giving out door prizes. It always warms my heart to see the books get plucked off the prize table first.”
The Marshall County Public Library offers programs for teens throughout the year. In addition to after school programs at all three branches, Blackwell also offers a teen writing group which meets on the third Wednesday of the month and the Young Adult Advisory Panel, an opportunity for teens to take part in the planning process, on the first Wednesday of the month. Both meetings take place at the Calvert City branch.
