Marshall County’s softball Lady Marshals lost two of three games last week, including decisions to rivals McCracken County and Graves County.
No. 1-ranked McCracken County won decisively for the second time in two encounters this year, while Graves, which fell by one run in an earlier meeting at Marshall County this year, won by one run on its home field.
In between the Lady Marshals completed a sweep of District 4 games with a victory at Murray.
The week’s action left the team with a 17-13 record.
THIS WEEK: The Lady Marshals had two games scheduled on the final week of regular-season play, but the slate has been expanded to three after Thursday’s game at St. Mary was postponed.
The Lady Marshals will take on the Lady Vikings in Paducah today at 6 p.m.
Marshall County was to host Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday .
Henderson County visits for the regular-season finale Thursday, with the first pitch at 6 p.m.
It won’t be the final home action, however, as Marshall County will host the District 4 tournament on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
The Lady Marshals have the first-round bye in the three-team district tourney. Calloway County and Murray will compete in the play-in game with the winner advancing to meet Marshall County in the championship. Both those teams will advance to the Region 1 tournament.

MAYFIELD – The Lady Marshals came up one run short in a comeback effort at Graves County Friday.
The Lady Eagles, who lost a 14-13 decision to Marshall County in their season opener March 21 in Draffenville, took the early lead and held onto it by getting the final out after the Lady Marshals scored twice and with the tying run on first base.
Marshall County piled up 12 hits to only six for Graves County, but five errors proved costly.
Hailey Trexler led off the fifth inning with a home run. She and Bailey Murphy were each 2-for-3 and Lexee Miller was 2-for-5.
Graves took a 9-2 lead into the sixth inning. Marshall County cut it to 9-6 with four runs in the top of the frame, then held Graves scoreless.
In the top of the seventh, Toni Fehrenbacher and Caitlyn York singled. Both advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Aubrey Jo Kemp.
Fehrenbacher scored from third on a passed ball and York came home on a single by Lexee Miller, but Trexler, who had a walk and a sacrifice in addition to her home run and single, was retired to end the game.

MURRAY – Lexee Miller tripled to drive in Mackenzie Harper to break a 1-1 tie, and the Lady Marshals went on to add three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh to complete a sweep of District 4 opponents on May 6.
Murray managed one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Miller was 2-for-4 and Hailey Trexler was 2-for-3 with a double. Each had an RBI.
Marshall County combined a single, a hit batter, an error and a fielder’s choice to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with Trexler getting the base hit and scoring the run.
Murray tied the game on a solo home run by Rachel Todd in the bottom of the second, and the two teams battled through four scoreless innings.
Marshall County outhit the Lady Tigers 8-6. Murray also committed four errors and pitcher Presley Blane hit Lady Marshals catcher Abby Fiessinger three times after Fiessinger singled in the first inning.

DRAFFENVILLE – A three-run home run by Kelsee Henson in the top of the first inning set the tone May 5 as No.1-ranked McCracken County rolled to a shutout win.
The Lady Marshals, who lost 8-2 at McCracken County on April 17, managed to get only two baserunners as far as third base. Lexee Miller singled, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and reached third on an error in the first, and Abby Fiessinger singled in the fifth and got to third on a wild pitch.
Fiessinger was 2-for-2 to account for half of the Lady Marshals’ four hits.
