Labor Day motorcycle crash victim identified

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department has identified the victim of a crash that took place on U.S. 68 near Forgotten Past on Labor Day.

Mary C. Wilkerson, 62, of Princeton died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Her husband, Michael WIkerson, 61, of Princeton was transported to Marshall County Hospital and later transferred by PHI Air Medical to another facility with serious injuries.

The Wilkersons were traveling west on a motorcycle on U.S. 68 East at around 2:30 p.m. Monday when the crash occurred. They were stopped in an attempt to make a left-hand turn into the parking lot of Forgotten Past during a heavy rain.

Nash Canter, 16, of Mayfield was traveling behind them and failed to see them stopped. Canter's truck struck the motorcycle from the rear, throwing the WIlkerson's onto the pavement.

Canter had three passengers in the truck, Kaci Thurston of Boaz, Savannah Leon, 16, of Mayfield and Isaac Darnell, 16, of Wingo. The driver and occupants of the truck were not injured.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Nathan Maxlow of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department. No charges were filed in the incident.
