The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office recently partnered with area agencies to conduct sobriety safety road checks in various areas of Marshall County as part of a state and national campaign. Sheriff Kevin Byars said this morning, “We are proud to partner with the Kentucky State Police, Benton Police Department, and Calvert City Police Department in this campaign. Thanks to all of the agencies and officers for their hard work. It is our greatest desire to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities in Marshall County and the Commonwealth.” Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies, Kentucky State Troopers, and City Police Officers conducted both road checks and saturation patrols Friday September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd in all areas of Marshall County. During this event there were 132 citations issued by all agencies to include:

* Speeding – 21

* License to be in Possession – 9

* No or Expired Registration Plates – 16

* No or Expired Registration Receipt – 12

* Failure to Wear Seatbelt – 4

* Courtesy Notice – 1

* Operating On Suspended Operators License – 3

* Failure to have Insurance – 10

* Warrants Served – 2

* DUI – 7

* Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage

in Motor Vehicle – 1

For the holiday weekend, Deputies also conduct extra patrols on Kentucky Lake by boat and in the Hardin / Dogtown Bottoms by ATV.
