John M. Goheen, 85, of Calvert City died Sunday, Dec. 30.

A native of Birmingham, he retired from National Carbide in Calvert City. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Calvert City.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy Seabees.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn (Capps) King Goheen; one daughter, Kathy Poague of Calvert City; two sons, Kendall King of Calvert City and Donald King of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; grandchildren Amy King of Paducah, Ky., Matt King of Spanaway, Wash., Carey Goldsmith of Mt. Pleasant. S.C., Clint Poague of Calvert City, and Blaire Adams of Louisville; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Buster Goheen of Benton; two sisters, May York of Benton and Cindy Darnell of Gilbertsville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael S. King, and a sister, Bobbie Hall. His parents were Russell and Roberta Holland Goheen.

A service was held Jan. 2 at Collier Funeral Home. Bro. Jim Ewing and Bro. Jerome Brown officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
