He was a member of the Eagles in Paducah and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandy Butler of Clinton; Felicia Fisher and Dana Provo both of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one son, Phillips Thompson of Lumberton, N.J.; one sister, Helen McCarty of Benton; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Williametta Wooley Thompson; four brothers, David L. Thompson, Edward O. Thompson, Jack O. Thompson and Robert M. Thompson; and his parents, Bernie M. Thompson and Mary E. Venters Thompson.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. November 29, at First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield. Rev. Larry Walker will officiate. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. November 29, at the First Presbyterian Church. Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
