Mr. Joe Jackson Haymes, age 83, of Benton, died Thursday, August 18, at the home of his daughter in Sevierville, TN. Born October 9, 1927 in Marshall Co., he was retired from the maintenance department of Mt. Kenton Cemetery in Lone Oak. He was a member of the Oak Level United Methodist Church. He served his country during World War II in the United State Army, serving in the Pacific Theater occupying Japan.

He was the son of the late David Haymes and the late Maudie (Cope) Haymes.

He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Sugars of Sevierville, TN., one son, Joe Randall Riley of Cadiz; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Lannie “Dean” (Copeland) Haymes, one daughter, Karen Davana Wells, three brothers, Jack Haymes, Myrl Haymes and Walt Haymes.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY.

Services were held August 22 in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

Rev. Ronnie Cunningham officiated.

Interment with military honors followed in the Oak Level Cemetery, Benton.
