He was born June 19, 1953 in Marshall County to the late Jim Ray and Linda Sue (Freeman) Irvan. A resident of Sikeston the past two years, he previously had lived in Marshall and McCracken Counties. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, and was of the Baptist Faith. He had been a truck driver for years, most recently for Martin Transportation Systems of Bertrand.
He was married to Bettie S. Washburn on April 26, 1986 in Livingston County and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters: Nancy Davenport of Murray, Clarrisa Porterfield of Lewisburg, Lisa Johnson of Russellville, and Stacy Irvan of Lewisburg; one brother, Douglas Irvan of Calvert City; two sisters, JoAnn Hill of Kevil and Patricia Peery of South Fulton, Tennessee, 11 grandchildren an two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Gee on May 29.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on July 8 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church officiated.Burial followed at Armer Cemetery near Bertrand.
