James David Filbeck, 65, Benton, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at 7:30 a.m. at home.

He was a 1965 graduate of South Marshall High School and served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

He was a retired geological surveyor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Abundant Life Worship Center of Calvert City.

He was the son of the late Joe Thomas Filbeck Sr. and Dorothy May Seaford Filbeck.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Phelps Filbeck; a son, Trent Woodruff Filbeck; a daughter, Pamela Sue Filbeck Kimberlin; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Joe Thomas “Joey” Filbeck, Jr.; and a sister, Gail Greer.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Ruben and Mamie Jones Filbeck and James Fielddon and Monnie Etta Price Seaford.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 25, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Bro. Lynn McWherter officiated.

Interment with military honors followed at Union Ridge Cemetery.
