Whether you’re traveling by water or land, Kenlake State Park has a lineup of scorching musicians in store this weekend for the 23rd annual Hot August Blues Festival. From new-aged bands to veterans, 11 groups and artists will perform on the Amphitheater surrounded by Kentucky Lake. Each band has its own style and twist, making the blues based music their own.

Kicking off the Hot August Blues Festival, the Kenlake Hotel will host their free neighbor night this Thursday.

It is a charity event with donations benefiting neighboring counties, including, Trigg, Christian, Marshall and Calloway. Music will begin at 5 p.m. with the Harper Brothers Band, followed by Alonzo Pennington Band, Night Fish, Rock Preservation Society and The Todd Hill Band featuring Kayla Dunn.

The lineup for the Hot August Blues Festival is as follows:

Friday, August 24

•6:00 - 7:15 p.m. - 3D Live-Smiley Blind Band - Classic Rock/ Blues from Tenn.

•7:30 - 8:45 p.m. - Justin Hatcher Band - Country/ Blues Originally from western Kentucky

•9:15 - 10:30 p.m. - Da’Mudcats - Blues from Louisville

•10:45 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. The Library Trio - Blues/ Southern Rock from Madisonville

Saturday, August 25

•2:00 - 3:00 p.m. John Sutton Band - Rock and Roll influenced by Blues from Nashville

•3:15 - 4:30 p.m. Tony Spinner Band - Rock/ Blues/ Funk and Groove, originally from Cape Girardeau, Mo.

• 4:45 - 6:00 p.m. Lightnin’ Rod and the Thunderbolts - Blues/ Rock from central Kentucky

•6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Long Tall Deb - Soul/ Gospel/ Swamp/ Blues, originally from El Paso, Texas

•8:00 - 9:15 p.m. The Terry Quiett Band Blues/ Rock

•9:30 - 10:45 p.m. Tommy Akers Band - Blues/ Southern Rock/ Country/ Soul from Tennessee

•11:00 p.m. - 12:15 a.m. Tee Dee Young band - Blues originally from Lexington

Food and merchandise vendors will also be at the park on Friday and Saturday. Everyone is welcome to bring their own coolers and lawn chairs. Shuttle service will be provided along Highway 68 from Kenlake to Lakeside Campground and Marina.The festival will be held rain or shine. Ticket prices are $12 for Friday, $17 for Saturday or $25 for both days prior to the event. Prices at the gate are $15 for Friday, $20 for Saturday or $30 for both days.
