Gary “Bo” Beckett, 79, Gilbertsville, passed away at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Baptist Health Paducah.

He was a member of the American Legion Gilbertsville Post 144. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War. He was of Baptist faith. He worked for American Electric Power at I & M in Lawrenceburg, Ind. and Cook Coal Terminal in Metropolis, Ill. for a combined 38 years.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae Mitchell Beckett of Gilbertsville; his children, Sallee Beckett Wilson and husband Mark, Murray, Cathy Beckett Uhlman and husband DeWayne, Greendale, Ind., Steven James Beckett and wife Ann, Sharpe, and Nancee Beckett Miller and husband Tim, Benton; grandchildren, Zachery Oswalt, Lauren Oswalt Carr, Garrett Uhlman, Brock Uhlman, Brandon Uhlman, Paige Beckett, Sydney Beckett, Carson Beckett, Haylee Miller, Lexee Miller and Whitnee Miller and one brother, Robert Thomas Beckett, Estero, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Justin Oswalt; two brothers, William Beckett and Buddy Beckett; sister, Daphne Polland and twin sister, Mary Esther Cuneo. His parents were James Thomas Beckett and Edith Baylor Beckett Bennett.

A funeral service was held on April 13, at Fitch Denney Funeral Home of Lawrenceburg, Ind. Burial followed in the Greendale Cemetery in Greendale, Ind. Fillbeck, Cann and King Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
