Mr. Sledge worked for the PGA Tour and as a self-employed painter. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, De Sledge; one daughter, Deborah Sledge of Pennsylvania; two sons, Denny Sledge of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Joey Sledge of Arkansas; two sisters, Elizabeth Tate and Laverne Wallace, both of Tennessee; two brothers, Estel Sledge of California and Herman Sledge of Tennessee; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Forey Sledge and Mary Lou Dotson Sledge; one daughter, Tania; two sisters, and one brother.
No visitation or funeral was held. Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of local arrangements.
