Elva Dean Gipson, 85, of Benton, died Friday, Sept. 28, at her home.

A native of Calloway County, she was retired from Ashby Chair Factory. She was the daughter of Willie Joyce and Dolly Pierce Joyce.

Surviving are husband, Alvin Rudell Gipson of Benton; sons Alvin Ray Gipson and and Larry Dale Gipson, both of Benton, and Joe Lee Gipson of Hardin; daughter Vickie Lynn Ford of Marion; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Richard "Dick" Joyce, Eric "Pod" Joyce and Archie "Son" Joyce; and sisters Lois Morris and Pearl Brown.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton, with Charles Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Briensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m.
