Drugs, cash, weapons seized in Calvert drug bust

A joint investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, US ATF, and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office culminated in an arrest near Calvert City yesterday.

Officers with the Marshall County Special Response Team made entry into a home on Retirement Circle west of Calvert City in order to serve an arrest warrant. The warrant charges Claude Johnson age 42 of Calvert City with two counts of Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1stDegree, 2ndor greater offense – Methamphetamine.

In the course of the arrest detectives seized additional Methamphetamine, a sawed off shotgun, cash, and other contraband. Marshall County Sheriff’s Detectives, ATF agents, and Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Investigators are continuing the investigation. As a result of the investigation the additional charges of Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1stDegree 2ndor subsequent offense – methamphetamine, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Defaced Firearm. Detectives seized over $15,000.00 in cash from the residence.

Sheriff Kevin Byars said "I am glad that the hard work by our officers, together with the other agencies involved seized this quantity of drugs, and their proceeds off the street. I am proud of the relationship that we have with the other agencies and what we can accomplish working together.”
