Dorse Rogers “D.R.” O’Dell, 95, of Benton, died Monday, August 6, at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton.

Mr. O’Dell was retired from Airco Alloys where he worked as a personell manager. He was a principal and coach at Sharpe High School from 1947 to 1951, and was the first commander for the American Legion Post 236.

Mr. O’Dell was a veteran of the US Army and served his country during World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

He was of the Church of Christ faith.

He is survived by, one daughter, Billie Ann Selvidge of New Orleans, La.; one son, Kyle O’Dell, of Benton; one brother, Ed O’Dell, of Calvert City; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-sons and one step grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie O’Dell and Ollie (Kincaid) O’Dell; his first wife, Rebecca (Hill) O’Dell; second wife, Betty (McCarty) O’Dell; and sister, Geneva Counce.

Funeral services were held at Collier Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 9. Rev. Kenneth Puckett officiated.

Interment followed at Bethlehem Cemetery, Benton.
