Mrs. Dorothy B. Smith, 98, of Symsonia, died Monday, August 22, at the Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City.

Mrs. Smith worked for the Florsheim Shoe Company in Paducah, and was a member of the Paducah Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Nell Mathis of Reidland; one grandson, Larry Mathis Symsonia; three great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Farmer of Lone Oak, Tammy Mathis of Decatur, Ala. and Heather Council of Reidland; four great great-grandchildren, Chelsey Council of Reidland, Kobe Farmer, Blaise Farmer and Cierra Farmer all of Lone Oak; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erie Smith; parents, Richard Smith and Minnie (Worley) Smith; granddaughter, Debbie Young, four brothers, Ernest Smith, Bill Smith, Amos Smith and Richard Smith, four sisters, Beulah Diel, Annie Stevenson, Grace Griggs and Mary Bishop.

Services were held Thursday, August 25, in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

Pastor Dennis Altrogge officiated. Interment followed in the Benton Cemetery.
