Doris Jean Nance Sullivan “Honey”, 82, of Benton, died July 20, at the home of her daughter, Jan Wadkins.

Doris was born on November 30, 1929 to Fred Franklin and Ouida Young Nance.

She worked as a school teacher in several places, most notably in a two-room school house in Lyon County and as a Kindergarten teacher at First Baptist Church in Benton.

She is survived by one daughter, Jan Rose Wadkins of Benton, three granddaughters, Tia Wadkins Banks, of Asheville, N.C., Allison Wadkins Schulz of Naples, Fla., Nicole Elizabeth Wadkins of Dallas, TX, one great-grandson, John Banks, Jr. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sullivan is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Louise Nance Trimble; three brothers, Fred Lloyd Nance, Will Ed Nance and W.F. “Dub” Nance; one infant son, William Joseph Sullivan, Jr.; and her husband of 63 years, William Joseph Sullivan.

Funeral services were Monday. Rev. Richie Clendenen and Scott Wagner officiated

Interment followed at Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton.
