Donald Gene Dawson, 84, of Benton, died December 20, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Dawson received his Master’s Degree from Colorado State University and taught English at John Deere Middle School in Moline, Ill. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae (Cobb) Dawson; one daughter, Lynne Polley, of Benton; one son, David Dawson, of Moline, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Howe, of North Port, Fla., Mary Felix, of Wichita, Kan., Marie Fogler, of North Port, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold Dawson and Dorothy (Collins) Dawson.

Funeral Services will be held at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory LTD, Moline, Ill. on Thursday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Tim Polley officiating.

Interment will follow at Moline Memorial Park, Moline, IL.

Friends may call the Esterdahl Mortuary on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
