Deputies charge man with auto theft following chase

On Tuesday June 25 at 3:00 p.m. Deputy Nathan Maxlow of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department was dispatched in reference to a stolen vehicle. Deputy Maxlow had been attempting to gain further information on who or where the stolen vehicle was at the time.

Detective Don Tidwell was assisting in trying to locate the stolen vehicle when he advised he was behind the vehicle on US 68 W headed towards Draffenville. Deputy Maxlow got behind the vehicle and activated his blue lights around the high school when the subject didn’t stop and sped away.

A short pursuit ended at the Marshall County soccer fields where the subject ran on foot and was located by Deputy Dennis Lewis in a creek. The subject had a suspended license and prior driving DUI suspended. The subject caused damage to the stolen vehicle and admitted to taking the vehicle.

Michael O. Glover 35, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking-Auto, Fleeing or Evading Police, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Driving DUI Suspended and Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operators License.

Glover was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
