The major professional bass fishing series of Benton-based FLW, the Walmart FLW Tour, will return to Kentucky Lake this year after a one-year hiatus.

However, the event will operate out of Paris Landing State Park Marina in Tennessee rather than out of a Kentucky facility.

The tournament will be Round 5 of six.

The last time the elite Walmart Tour visited Marshall County was June 7-10, 2012. Dave LeFebre of Erie, Pa., won that event at Kentucky Dam Marina in Gilbertsville .

Terry Bolton of Paducah was the highest-finishing local fisherman, in 11th place.

A number of events on other FLW tours are on the calendar for 2014.

Round 2 of the three-event Central Division of the Everstart Series will be out of Kenlake Resort State Park in Aurora on May 29-31.

Round 4 of the FLW College Fishing Central Division will be the Kentucky Lake Invitational Sept. 13-14, with Moors Resort and Marina in Gilbertsville as headquarters.

Kentucky and Barkley lakes will of course be home to all five events on the FLW Walmart Bass Fishing Tour’s LBL division, with tournaments in March, April, June, July and September.

Kentucky Dam Marina and Moors Resort will host two events each and the other will be out of Kenlake.

Two BFL events in the Music City Division will also be held on Kentucky Lake, out of Paris Landing.

The KHSAA also held its inaugural state bass fishing tournament at Kenlake State Park last spring.

No information has been released regarding the 2014 tournament.
