Charles D. Allen, 79, of Melber passed away Friday August 16 at 8:15 a.m. in his home. Mr. Allen was a welder and maintenance man at Federal Materials for 13 years, and also worked as a tobacco and cattle farmer.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Naomi Bement Allen, four daughters; Paula Jackson of Cunningham, Angela Gourley of Cunningham, Velda Rikel of Lone Oak and Karen Cude of Smithland; two sons, Charlie Allen of Pottsville and Bert Allen of Vevay, Ind., one sister, Sue Swansey of Benton, one brother, Phillip Allen of Hickory, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents McKinley and Beulah Speed Allen, and two brothers; Daniel Allen and Almon Allen.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Burial followed at Diggs Chapel/Kansas Cemetery in Melber. Rev. Rodney Cude officiated.
