The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner on Thursday night. A mix and mingle event will begin at 5:30 in the Commons area of Marshall County High School, with the program starting at 7:00 in the Shadowen Performing Arts Center.
Chamber Director Debbie Buchanan said Building for the future seemed like the perfect theme once planning got underway. She said entertainment will be provided by the Marshall County Art’s Commission’s Children Choir and a silent auction is being held to benefit the center’s building fund. Construction of the new center began a couple of weeks ago and the center is expected to be complete by summer.
Buchanan said the selection of Calvert City Lumber as the chamber’s business of the year further solidified the theme, along with Westlake Chemical as industry of the year. Westlake currently has a number of construction projects in place and is making a significant investment to preserve jobs in Marshall County.
Also being honored this year is the retiring medical director of the Marshall County Health Department, Dr. H.W. Ford, as citizen of the year.
County Judge Executive Mike Miller will receive the Chamber’s lifetime achievement award.
