Carolyn Dunigan, 78, of Paducah passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Illinois.

Carolyn had owned and operated a beauty shop in Sharpe, and she later retired from the Pennwalt Corporation as a chemical operator. She had formerly served as the chairwoman of the Marshall County Board of Education.

She is survived by one daughter, Robin Hunt and her husband Steve of Paducah, three sons, Glen Dunigan and his wife Cindy of Calvert City, Doug Dunigan and his wife Teresa of Lovelaceville and Brad Dunigan of Paducah, 11 grandchildren, T.J. Dunigan, Darren Dunigan, Layken Dunigan, Jesse Dunigan, Lindsay Ryan, Lesley Evans, Zack Dunigan, Hayden Dunigan, Courtney Stauffer, Jeramiah Hunt and Derek Hunt, nine great grandchildren, Mariah Ryan, Duncan Ryan, Ava Ryan, Layla Ryan, Clara Evans, Emme Williams, Clay Stauffer, Henry Hunt and Olive Hunt and one brother, Tommy Story and his wife Myrtle of Reidland.

Her parents were Ted Story and Hazel Stevens Story.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 5 at Fooks Cemetery.
