CFS picks up 2 wins as softball is revived

BRIENSBURG – Softball is back at Christian Fellowship School for the first time since 2005, and the Lady Eagles are 2-3 after the first week of the season.

The young team opened the year with a 5-4 victory at Mayfield on March 18 and added a second victory, 6-1 over Fulton County, on Friday.

Against Mayfield, leadoff batter Abigail Cima reached base four times, stole three bases and scored three runs.

Maddie Ortt picked up the victory, scattering seven hits and walking only one batter.

The Eagles baseball team is off to an 0-2 start after losses at Carlisle County and Cairo, Ill.

THIS WEEK: In softball, the Lady Eagles get a rematch with Mayfield on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Mike Miller Park. Fulton City visits on Friday at 5 p.m. to wrap up the pre-spring break schedule.

In baseball, Fulton City visits the CFS field today and Lyon County visits on Thursday. Both games start at 5 p.m.
