Bobby Brooks Farmer, 82, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Benton, died Sunday, August 25.

He was born July 19, 1931 in Benton to the late Sam L. Farmer and Reba Darnall Farmer.

Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Emerine Farmer, sons Jeff (Linda) Farmer, John (Margaret) Farmer, daughters Julia Farmer and Jamie Farmer Oneida (Dene), grandchildren Jill Farmer, Joshua (Lindsey) Farmer, Ethan Farmer, Micah Farmer, Brett (Jennifer) Farmer, Anna Farmer and Sarah Farmer, a brother, Solon W. Farmer and a great grandson Eli Farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Sam H. Farmer and a nephew, Solon W. Farmer, Jr.

Mr. Farmer graduated from Benton High School in 1949 and joined the Navy during the Korean War. In the Navy he trained as an Aviation Electronic Tech at Memphis Naval Air Station and was later assigned duty in both California and Florida, as well as aboard the U.S. Aircraft Carrier Hornet.

Discharged from the Navy in 1955, Mr. Farmer began pre-pharmacy studies at Murray State University and later transferred to U.T. Memphis Medical Units where he graduated in 1959. He worked as a pharmacist in Maryville, Tenn. for five years before moving to Murfreesboro, Tenn. and becoming co-owner of Martin Rexall Drugs. Mr. Farmer also worked at the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro as a pharmacist for 20 years, retiring in 2012.

Services were held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro on Saturday, August 31 with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
