A Benton resident identified only as Tim will be featured on this week’s episode of “Hoarding: Buried Alive” on the TLC channel. The show, entitled “The Stench is Amazing,” will air at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday night.
According to a press release by TLC, 33-year old Tim has managed to amass a hoard well beyond his years. That’s because hoarding is in Tim’s DNA. His mom was a shopaholic whose hoard once stretched to the ceiling and he was raised by Depression-era grandparents who hoarded canned goods. When they passed away, Tim inherited their home, their hoard—and a $20,000 trust fund.
“With his money running out, no job prospects on the horizon, and his family losing patience, Tim has no choice. It’s time for him to grow up and clean up,” according to promotional materials for the episode.
Producers of the show follow Tim in his home to reveal the psychology behind the hoarding obsession.
Each episode of “Hoarding: Buried Alive” examines hoarders as they struggle to gain a greater understanding of their extreme attachments to seemingly worthless objects. With the help of expert therapists and professional organizers, the hoarders attempt to calm the chaos in their homes and their minds, and reclaim control of their lives once and for all.
