Middle schools across the state were asked to participate in a horse-themed banner showcase for the upcoming 2011 National Middle School Association Conference (NMSA) to be held in Louisville, KY, Nov. 10-12 at the Kentucky International Convention Center, Thirty middle schools from across the state jumped on this historic opportunity to showcase their visual arts programs to over 10,000 middle school teachers, administrators, and national education leaders, including Arne Duncan, the U.S. Secretary of Education, who will be one of the keynote speakers at the conference. The completed banners will be displayed throughout the conference dates in one of the main hallways at the convention center. Special lighting, display structures, and music will enhance the banner showcase, making them quite the show-stopper. Even the NMSA Conference committee is excited to see the completed banners as this is the first time such an art project has been attempted for their conference.
