Baron E. Palmer, 86, of Kirksey died Saturday at his home.

He was a retired row crop, tobacco and jersey dairy farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Hector repair ship and the USS Gurke battleship destroyer. He was a member of Kirksey United Methodist Church and a graduate of Kirksey High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mohler Palmer; and one infant sister. His parents were Lowell and Dixe Trevathan Palmer.

He is survived by his son, David L. Palmer of Kirksey; sister, Clarice Norsworthy of Kirksey; three grandchildren, Charles Palmer, Michael Palmer and Timothy Palmer, all of Kirksey; ten great-grandchildren; and several nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. The Revs. Kendrick Lewis and David Allbritten will officiate with burial following in Murray Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
