BENTON – Authorities continue the search for a second suspect involved in a home invasion March 19 that left one assailant hospitalized. Sheriff Kevin Byars said Monday his department is seeking a man for questioning, but could not comment further.

The incident occured March 19 just before 4 a.m. when two males entered the home of Jack Thompson on Oak Grove Church Road in Brewers. Thompson and his wife were home at the time. According to reports, Thompson retreived a handgun after hearing the intruders inside his house. He was met at his bedroom door by one of the assailants, Mitchell Saddoris, 22, of Kirksey. Thompson fired three rounds at the assailant striking him at least once. Thompson also fired at Saddoris with a shotgun.

Saddoris was located on scene when officers arrived and was transported to Marshall County Hospital. He was later airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he remains as of presstime.

The second suspect– described only as a white male wearing a light colored shirt– fled the scene. Byars said his department has been in contact with other agencies to locate the suspect. The case is being investigated by Detective Dan Melone.

Any information or possible identity of the second assailant may be made by contacting Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (270) 527-3112 or Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 527-COPS (2677).
