Alvin “Rudell” Gipson, 85, of Benton passed away Saturday, June 1, at his residence.
Born Tuesday, June 14, 1927, in Marshall County, he was a retired chemical operator at SKW Alloys in Calvert City. He honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Lee Gipson of Hardin, and Larry Dale Gipson of Benton; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Ford of Marion; two brothers, Harold “Goober” Gipson of Benton and Kenny Gipson of Grand Rivers; and two sisters, Bobbie Jean Higgins of Benton and Patricia Thompson of Calvert City.
Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onnie Gipson and Lillian (Divine) Gipson; his wife Elva (Joyce) Gipson; one son, Alvin Ray Gipson, two brothers, Dub Gipson and Paul “Puncher” Gipson; and three sisters, Louise Owens, Mammie Jo Berkhem and Katherine Vogel.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 3, in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Charles Steele officiated. Interment followed in the Briensburg Cemetery.
