DRAFFENVILLE – Eight swimmers from the Marshall County swim team and one from Christian Fellowship will compete in Saturday’s Hilltopper Swimming and Diving Invitational at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
All entrants were required to meet qualifying time standards to be eligible for the meet.
MCHS swimmers and their events are:
Sarah Telle and Erika Darnell, 200 individual medley and 100 fly plus 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
Jessie Anderson, 200 free and 50 free plus 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
Sidney Jackson,100 free and 50 free plus 200 free relay.
Whitney Barrett, 100 breast plus 200 medley relay.
Grant Park, 50 free and 100 free.
Paul Hudson, 50 free and 100 free.
Austin Gordon, 50 free and 100 back.
Representing CFS will be:
Nick Snodgrass, 50 free and 100 free.
“Many swimmers qualified for several events,” MCHS coach Kevin Stephens said. “However, they are limited to swimming two individual events. Since this a meet that I feel the swimmers earned the right to attend, it is all about them and I let them choose which events they would like to swim.”
CFS coach Paulette Buckingham noted that Snodgrass, a sophomore, qualified in four events.
“Nick also qualified last year as a freshman for the Hilltopper Invitational,” she said. “Last year, he qualified for the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.”
“This really is a great meet,” Stephens said. “We will be in the water with some of the best swimmers in the state and a few from surrounding states.
“We have a competitive group of kids going and we will probably see some of our swimmers post some of their personal best times in individual events.”
Both schools were scheduled to compete in an event at the Paducah Athletic Club Monday.
